A cooperative organized under the renewable energy electric generation cooperative act shall pay the costs of use of distribution and transmission systems by the cooperative to transmit electricity, the costs of a generation interconnect study to the extent required by the standard provisions for agreements for interconnection and the costs of transmission system improvements, other upgrades and metering necessary for system operation. The cooperative shall negotiate with the owners of distribution and transmission systems for the purpose of determining such costs.
