If a judgment against the defendant is reversed, such reversal shall be deemed an order for a new trial, unless the appellate court shall direct a different disposition. In reversing the case, the appellate court may direct that the defendant be discharged and the defendant’s bail exonerated, or ifmoney isdeposited instead, that it be returned to the defendant.
