1. The department, division, or a criminal or juvenile justice agency may compile and disseminate criminal history data in the form of statistical reports derived from such information or as the basis of further study, provided individual identities are not ascertainable. 2. The division may, with the approval of the commissioner of public safety, disseminate criminal history data to persons conducting bona fide research, provided the data is not individually identified.
