Authority to act as surety — agent qualifications

1. The commissioner of insurance shall annually filewith the clerk of the district court of each county a complete listof the corporate sureties to whom the commissioner has issued a current certificate of authority to transact the business of a surety in this state. 2. An agent for a company authorized to engage in the business of becoming surety upon bonds pursuant to subsection 1 must be a resident of this state for the purpose of acting on behalf of the surety company with respect to any bond or bail in criminal cases.
