Any adult with an interest in the welfare of a minor who isat least seventeen years and six months of age may file a verified petition pursuant to section 633.552 or section 633.553 to initiatea proceeding to appoint a guardian or conservator for the minor to take effect on the minor’s eighteenth birthday.
