Unless the court, for cause shown, determines that the possession of the personal representative shall continue for a longer period, the personal representative shall deliver allspecifically devised property to the devisees entitled thereto after the expiration of twelve months from the date of appointment of the personal representative. This section shall not preclude the court from directing that such delivery be made before such period has expired, nor shall the personal representative be prevented from delivering such property at an earlier time.
