Mechanics’ liens, including those for additions, repairs, and betterments, shall attach tothe building or improvement for which the material or labor was furnished or done, in preference to any prior lien, encumbrance, or mortgage upon the land upon which such building or improvement was erected or situated except as provided in sections 572.10 and 572.11.
