Certificate of election

1. Each person declared elected by the stateboardof canvassers shall receive a certificate, signed by the governor or, in the governor’s absence, by the secretary of state, with the seal of state affixed, attested by the other canvassers, to be in substance as follows: STATE OF IOWA: To ................................(candidate’sname): It is hereby certified that, at an election held on the ................dayof........................you were elected to the office of ........................ofIowa,forthe term of ............years,from the ................dayof........................(oriftofill a vacancy, for the residue of the term, ending on the ................day of ........................). Given at the seat of government this ................day of ........................ 2. If the governor is absent, the certificate of the election of the secretary of state shall be signed by the auditor. The certificate to members of the legislature shall describe, by the number, the district from which the member is elected.
