At the time of finally establishing the district, the boards of the several counties, acting jointly,shall employ a competent engineer to have charge and supervision of the construction of the improvement and they shall fixthe engineer’s compensation and the engineer shall, before entering upon said work, give a bond running to the several counties for the use and benefit of thedistrictinthe same amounts and of like tenor and effect as is providedindistricts wholly within one county. A duplicate of such bond shall be filed with the auditor of each of said counties.
