Change to direct election of mayor — nomination petition signature

requirements. 1. Ifthere is a change in government pursuant to section 372.6, subsection 2, the number of signatures required on a nomination petition for the office of mayor for the firstelection that office is on the ballot shall be an amount equal to the product of the following: a. The total number of votes cast for at-large city council offices at the last regular city election divided by the number of city council seats to be filledat the last regular city election. b. Two hundredths. 2. Ifthe product of subsection 1, paragraphs “a” and “b”, is less than ten, the required number of signatures is ten.
