The department of public defense is composed of the office of the adjutant general, the military forces of the state of Iowa, and the Iowa gold star military museum as established in section 29.4. The adjutant generalis the directorof the department of publicdefenseandshall perform allfunctions, responsibilities, powers, and duties concerning the military forces of the state of Iowa and the Iowa gold star military museum as provided in the laws of the state.
