Postsecondary course audit

1. The department shall annually audit postsecondary courses offered to high school students in accordance with chapter 261E. 2. The department shall establish a sampling technique that randomly selects courses for audit. The audit shall include but not be limited to a review of the course syllabus, teacher qualifications, examples of student products, and results of student assessments. Standards for review shall be established by the department. Audit findings shall be submitted to the institutions providing the classes audited and shall be posted on the department’s internet site. 3. If the department determines that a postsecondary course offered to high school students in accordance with chapter 261E does not meet the standards established by the department pursuantto subsection2, thecourse shall not be eligible forfuture supplementary weighting under section 257.11. Ifthe institution makes changes to the course sufficient to cause the course to meet the standards of the department, the department may reinstate the eligibility of the course for future supplementary weighting under section 257.11.
