1. For the purposes of this subchapter, the terms “department of health and human services”, “department”, or “county attorney” ordinarily refer to the local office of the department or of the county attorney’s office serving the county in which the child’s home islocated. 2. Ifthe person making a report of child abuse pursuant to this chapter does not know where the child’s home is located, the report may be made to the department or to the local office serving the county where the person making the report resides or the county where the health practitioner examines, attends, or treats the child. These agencies shall promptly proceed as provided in section 232.71B, unless the matter is transferred as provided in this section. 3. Ifthe child’s home islocatedin acountynot served bythe officereceiving the report, the department shall promptly transfer the matter by transmitting a copy of the report of injury and any other pertinent information to the office and the county attorney serving the other county.
