Foreign animal disease preparedness and response fund

1. A foreign animal disease preparedness and response fund is created in the state treasury under the control and management of the department. 2. The fund shall include moneys appropriated by the general assembly credited to the fund. The fund may include other moneys available to and obtained or accepted by the department as provided in section 159.6A, including but not limited to the federal government, other public sources, or private sources. 3. Moneys in the fund are appropriated to the department for the following purposes: a. Developing, establishing, and implementing aforeign animal disease preparedness and response strategy as described in section 163.3C. b. Supporting activities related to animal health and disease response that strengthen the state’s overall ability to prevent, prepare for,and respond to emerging or reemerging animal diseases, including but not limited to salaries, support, maintenance, and miscellaneous purposes. 4. a. Notwithstanding section 12C.7, interest or earnings on moneys in the fund shall be credited to the fund. b. Notwithstanding section 8.33, moneys credited to the fund that remain unexpended or unobligated at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to any other fund. Subsection3amended
