Emergency medical services fund

An emergency medical services fund is created in the state treasury under the control of the department. The fund includes, but isnot limited to, amounts appropriated by the general assembly, amounts transferred pursuant to section 602.8108, subsection 4, and other moneys available from federal or private sources which are to be used for purposes of this section. Funds remaining in the fund at the end of each fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund ofthe state but shall remain in the emergency medical services fund, notwithstanding section 8.33. The fund is established to assist counties by matching, on a dollar-for-dollar basis, moneys spent by a county for the acquisition of equipment for the provision of emergency medical servicesandby providing grants to counties for education and training inthe delivery of emergency medical services, as provided in this section and section 422D.6. A county §135.25, DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES — PUBLIC HEALTH 18 seeking matching funds under this section shall apply to the department. The department shall adopt rules concerning the application and awarding process for the matching funds and the criteria for the allocation of moneys inthe fund ifthe moneys are insufficient to meet the emergency medical services needs of the counties. Moneys allocated by the department toa county for emergency medical services purposes may be used for equipment or training and education as determined by the board of supervisors pursuant to section 422D.6.
