The treasurer of state shall so keep the books of the treasurer’s office that at the close of each day’s business the account of each fund will show the balance or deficit therein, and show also the total amount of the money in the state treasury, and should the books not be in balance, the daily statement shall show the amount of the surplus or deficit by which the books failto balance.
