Sec. 23. (a) The Indiana department of transportation shall adopt standards and specifications applicable to: (1) head lamps; (2) clearance lamps; (3) identification lamps; and (4) other lamps; on snow removal equipment when operated on highways instead of the lamps otherwise required on motor vehicles by this chapter.       (b) The standards and specifications adopted under subsection (a) may permit the use of flashing lights for purposes of identification on snow removal equipment when in service upon the highways.       (c) The standards and specifications for lamps referred to in this section must correlate with and, so far as possible, conform with those approved by the American Association of State Highway Officials.       (d) A person may not operate snow-removal equipment on a highway unless the lamps on the equipment comply with and are lighted when and as required by the standards and specifications adopted under this section.
