Inspection of records; examination of officers, agents, and employees; adoption of motor vehicle inspection rules

Sec. 5. The department may require the filing of annual and other reports and the submission of all records and information necessary to aid the department in the exercise of the powers granted by this chapter. The department, a member of the department, or an authorized representative of the department, may: (1) upon demand, inspect the books, accounts, papers, records, memoranda, equipment, and premises of a motor carrier; (2) examine, under oath, any officer, agent, or employee of a motor carrier in relation to the motor carrier's business affairs; and (3) prescribe rules for inspection of motor vehicles used by the motor carrier.
