Attendance at schools or courses conducted for local officials

Sec. 7. (a) Each member of the county executive elected for the first time after October 31, 2020, shall attend any school or course conducted for local officials under IC 8-23-9-56 not later than two (2) years after the date of the member's election to the county executive.       (b) A member of the county executive not described in subsection (a) may attend any school or course conducted for local officials under IC 8-23-9-56 .       (c) The fiscal body of each county shall appropriate sufficient funds to pay each member of the county executive a per diem for expenses for each day or part of a day the member is in attendance at any school or course conducted for local officials under IC 8-23-9-56 , and to pay the member a sum for mileage at a rate determined by the county fiscal body for each mile traveled to attend the school.
