Duties of the commission

Sec. 10. The commission shall do the following: (1) Plan, encourage, develop, and coordinate an overall program in 2026 commemorating the history of the United States leading up to the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States. (2) Encourage and assist state agencies (as defined in IC 4-13-1-1 ), counties, municipalities, townships, and private organizations in coordinating, organizing, and participating in activities that commemorate the semiquincentennial of the United States. (3) Plan and promote an event to occur on July 4, 2026. (4) Give due consideration, in developing the plans for the program, to any related plans and programs developed by federal, state, local, and private groups. (5) Coordinate the commission's activities and projects with the United States Semiquincentennial Commission, community organizations, local municipalities, and other entities that the commission determines to be appropriate. (6) Create a logo that incorporates the America250 logo used by the America250 Foundation, Inc., and adds a design component specific to Indiana.
