Sec. 1. (a) Beginning January 13, 2025, the annual salary of the governor is an amount equal to the annual salary of a supreme court justice under IC 33-38-5-8 , as adjusted under IC 33-38-5-8.1 . (b) The governor is not entitled to receive a salary increase under this section if state employees in the executive branch who are in the same or a similar salary bracket have not received a statewide average salary increase during the previous four (4) state fiscal years, regardless of whether a supreme court justice receives an annual adjustment for the year under IC 33-38-5-8 and IC 33-38-5-8.1 . After 2025, in a calendar year in which a new governor takes office, if the governor is entitled to a salary increase in the calendar year under this section, an annual salary increase occurs beginning on the date the new governor takes office. (c) If a salary increase is required under this section, an amount sufficient to pay for the salary increase is appropriated from the state general fund.
