Township board; election; term of office

Sec. 2. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b) and section 2.1 of this chapter, a three (3) member township board shall be elected under IC 3-10-2-13 by the voters of each township.       (b) The township board in a county containing a consolidated city shall consist of five (5) members elected under IC 3-10-2-13 by the voters of each township.       (c) The township board is the township legislative body.       (d) The term of office of a township board member is four (4) years, beginning January 1 after election and continuing until a successor is elected and qualified.
