Sec. 9.8. (a) A two-thirds (2/3) vote of all the elected members, after unanimous consent of the members present to consider the ordinance, is required to pass an ordinance of the legislative body on the same day or at the same meeting at which it is introduced. (b) Subsection (a) does not apply to the following: (1) A zoning ordinance or amendment to a zoning ordinance adopted under IC 36-7 . (2) An ordinance to increase the number of town legislative body members adopted under section 4.2 of this chapter, unless the ordinance also establishes new legislative body districts.
