Purpose of chapter

Sec. 1. The purpose of this chapter is to enable the supreme court to: (1) simplify and abbreviate the pleadings and proceedings; (2) expedite the decision of causes; (3) remedy abuses and imperfections that exist in the practice; (4) abolish unnecessary forms and technicalities in pleading and practice; and (5) abolish fictions and unnecessary process and proceedings.
