Civil commitment; child with a mental illness

Sec. 3. If it appears to the juvenile court that a child has a mental illness, the court may: (1) refer the matter to the court having probate jurisdiction for civil commitment proceedings under IC 12-26 ; or (2) initiate a civil commitment proceeding under IC 12-26 .
