Chapter establishes standards to define vote

Sec. 1.2. (a) This chapter is enacted to comply with 52 U.S.C. 21081 by establishing uniform and nondiscriminatory standards to define what will be counted as a vote on a paper ballot, optical scan voting system, or electronic voting system.       (b) The standards in this chapter apply to counting votes on every voting system, except where specific standards applicable only: (1) to a type of voting system are provided under IC 3-12-2 , IC 3-12-3 , or IC 3-12-3.5 ; and (2) in a recount or contest proceeding are provided under IC 3-12-6 , IC 3-12-8 , IC 3-12-11 , or IC 3-12-12 .
