Sec. 1. (a) Whenever a proposed state constitutional amendment or other public question is submitted by the general assembly under Article 16 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana to the electorate of the state for a popular vote, the election division shall certify the public question to the county election board of each county. (b) If the vote is to occur at a general election, the election division shall certify by noon on the date specified under IC 3-8-7-16 for the election division to certify candidates and other public questions for the general election ballot. If a special election is to be held, the election division shall certify at least thirty (30) days before the election. Each county election board shall publish notice of the public question in accordance with IC 5-3-1 . [Pre-1986 Recodification Citation: 3-1-15-1.]
