Establishment and acquisition of subsidiaries

Sec. 12. A savings bank may establish or acquire a subsidiary that engages in either of the following: (1) The sale, distribution, or underwriting of securities issued by investment companies (as defined in Section 3 of the Investment Company Act of 1940 (15 U.S.C. 80a-3)). (2) The underwriting or distribution of securities backed by or representing an interest in mortgages.
