Indiana Code § 27-7-12-1

Applicability of chapter; exceptions

Sec. 1. (a) This chapter applies to policies of insurance covering risks to property located in Indiana that take effect or are renewed after June 30, 2001, and that insure loss of or damage to: (1) real property consisting of not more than four (4) residential units, one (1) of which is the principal place of residence of the named insured; or (2) personal property: (A) in which the named insured has an insurable interest; and (B) that is used within a residential dwelling for personal, family, or household purposes.       (b) This chapter does not apply to the following: (1) A policy of inland marine insurance. (2) The cancellation or nonrenewal of an automobile insurance policy under IC 27-7-6 . (3) The cancellation or nonrenewal of a commercial property and casualty insurance policy under IC 27-1-31-2.5 .
