Sec. 1. The provisions of this article requiring a person to obtain a license do not apply to a person performing cosmetology as a: (1) student in a beauty culture school; (2) commissioned medical or surgical officer of the United States armed forces; (3) chiropractor (as defined by IC 25-10-1-1 (2)); (4) embalmer (as defined by IC 25-15-2-8 ); (5) funeral director (as defined by IC 25-15-2-12 ); (6) registered nurse (as defined by IC 25-23-1-1.1 (a)); (7) licensed practical nurse (as defined by IC 25-23-1-1.2 ); (8) physician (as defined by IC 25-22.5-1-1.1 (g)); (9) podiatrist (as defined by IC 25-29-1-13 ); or (10) person conducting an educational activity involving beauty culture at a scheduled meeting of an association that: (A) recognizes a group of its members as beauty culture professionals; and (B) is not open to persons who are not licensed under this chapter.
