Sec. 16. (a) The attorney general may bring an action to recover from a person on behalf of the state a civil penalty described in subsection (b). (b) A person who knowingly or intentionally violates this chapter is subject to a civil penalty of: (1) not more than two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500) for a violation or series of violations concerning one (1) consumer; or (2) not more than a total of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) for related violations concerning more than one (1) consumer.
