Sec. 3.3. (a) As used in this section, "veteran" means: (1) a Hoosier veteran (as defined in IC 1-1-4-5 (b)); or (2) an individual who satisfies the following: (A) The individual is a resident of Indiana. (B) The individual has previously served on active duty in any branch of the armed forces of the United States or their reserves, in the National Guard, or in the Indiana National Guard. (C) The individual received a discharge from service under conditions other than conditions set forth in IC 10-17-12-7.5 (2). (b) Unless otherwise provided by federal law, the department shall give a veteran or the spouse of a veteran priority for placement in any federal or state employment or training program administered by the department if the veteran or the veteran's spouse: (1) submits documentation satisfactory to the department establishing the veteran's honorable discharge from service; and (2) meets the eligibility requirements for the program.
