Academic performance grants; determination of grant amounts

Sec. 1. (a) In addition to the amount a school corporation is entitled to receive in basic tuition support, each school corporation is eligible to receive an academic performance grant. Subject to subsections (d) and (e), the amount of a school corporation's grant for a state fiscal year is equal to the amounts determined under subsection (b) or (c), as applicable.       (b) This subsection applies to the state fiscal year beginning July 1, 2025. The amount of a school corporation's grant for a state fiscal year is equal to the aggregate of each of the single largest amounts determined for each student under: (1) section 2 of this chapter; (2) section 3 of this chapter; (3) section 4(a)(1) of this chapter; (4) section 4(a)(2) of this chapter; or (5) section 4(a)(3) of this chapter.       (c) This subsection applies to the state fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The amount of a school corporation's grant for a state fiscal year is equal to the result under the following formula: STEP ONE: Determine the aggregate of each of the single largest amounts determined for each student under: (A) section 2 of this chapter; (B) section 3 of this chapter; (C) section 4(a)(2) of this chapter; or (D) section 4(a)(3) of this chapter. STEP TWO: Determine the aggregate of the amounts determined for each student under: (A) section 4(a)(4) of this chapter; (B) section 4(a)(5) of this chapter; or (C) section 4(a)(6) of this chapter. STEP THREE: Determine the aggregate of the larger of the amounts determined under STEP ONE or STEP TWO for each student.       (d) For purposes of subsections (b) and (c), if a school corporation: (1) received as part of a grant under this chapter in a previous state fiscal year an amount based on a determination of eligibility of a particular student under section 2 of this chapter or section 3 of this chapter; and (2) is determined by the department to be eligible in a subsequent state fiscal year for an amount based on a determination of eligibility of the same student under section 4 of this chapter; the school corporation may only receive as part of the school corporation's grant in the subsequent state fiscal year the amount equal to the greater of zero (0) or the difference between the amount described in subdivision (2) minus the amount described in subdivision (1).       (e) Each school corporation and charter school shall submit information prescribed by the department that is necessary to make the determinations required under this chapter.
