Sec. 5.7. (a) Each public school, including a charter school, and state accredited nonpublic school shall include in the school's curriculum age appropriate: (1) research and evidence based; or (2) research or evidence based; instruction on child abuse and child sexual abuse to students in kindergarten through grade 12. (b) The department, in consultation with school safety specialists, school counselors, school social workers, or school psychologists, shall identify outlines or materials for the instruction described in subsection (a) and incorporate the instruction in kindergarten through grade 12. (c) Any outlines and materials identified under subsection (b) must be demonstrated to be effective and promising. (d) Instruction on child abuse and child sexual abuse may be delivered by a teacher, school safety specialist, school counselor, or any other person with training and expertise in the area of child abuse and child sexual abuse.
