Reorganization by school corporations to become community school corporations

Sec. 12. (a) This section provides an alternative method for a school corporation to be reorganized as a community school corporation.       (b) The following may petition directly to the state board to be reorganized as a community school corporation: (1) A consolidated school corporation organized under section 3 of this chapter. (2) A metropolitan school district organized under IC 20-23-7-2 .       (c) The following apply to a school corporation that petitions directly to the state board under subsection (b): (1) The school corporation is not required to do the following: (A) Seek approval of a county committee established by IC 20-23-4-11 . (B) Pursue a joint meeting of a county committee and the state board under IC 20-23-4-18 . (2) The state board may waive the attainment of any standard required for reorganization as a community school corporation under this chapter.
