Appointments; committee chair; committee vice-chair

Sec. 8.5. (a) The: (1) chairman of the legislative council, with the advice of the vice-chairman, shall designate the chair; and (2) vice-chairman of the legislative council, with the advice of the chairman, shall designate a vice-chair; of each committee from among the legislative members of the committee. The chair and vice-chair of a committee serve at the pleasure of the appointing authority.       (b) If a committee is a study committee (as defined in IC 2-5-1.3-3 ) or another committee on which members serve for two (2) interims or years, the chairman and the vice-chairman of the legislative council may provide that: (1) the chair of a committee becomes the vice-chair of the committee in the year after the individual is appointed as chair; and (2) the vice-chair of the committee becomes the chair of the committee in the year after the individual is appointed as vice-chair.
