Criteria for information; approval of materials

Sec. 1. (a) The state department shall identify current, evidence based, written information that concerns the prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome and any other condition diagnosed prenatally that meets all the following criteria: (1) The information is designed for use by an expectant parent or parent who receives a prenatal test result for Down syndrome or any other condition diagnosed prenatally. (2) The information does not implicitly or explicitly reference pregnancy termination. (3) The information is culturally and linguistically appropriate for potential recipients of the information. (4) The information includes a brief description and contact information for state and local advocacy organizations that advocate for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome and other conditions diagnosed prenatally. The information may include information hotlines, resource centers, Internet web sites, and clearinghouses.       (b) The state department may approve material submitted by state and local advocacy organizations that advocate for people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome and other conditions diagnosed prenatally, if the information meets the criteria required in subsection (a). The information may include information hotlines, resource centers, Internet web sites, and clearinghouses.
