Sec. 7. (a) The department shall contract for the development of game bird habitats in Indiana. Each contract must: (1) be for at least three (3) years; and (2) provide a plan for the development of habitat for at least one (1) species of game bird. (b) The department may seek the cooperation of federal agencies such as the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service or the Natural Resources Conservation Service in the development of habitat plans and compensation for habitat plans. Monetary compensation may not exceed the rate per acre per year as determined by the commission and each contract may provide that the site be open for regulated public game bird hunting.
