Sec. 2. (a) The operator of a boat involved in an accident or a collision resulting in: (1) injury to or death of a person; or (2) damage to a boat or other property to an apparent extent of at least seven hundred fifty dollars ($750); shall provide the information required under subsection (b).       (b) An operator of a boat subject to subsection (a) shall do the following: (1) Give notice of the accident to: (A) the office of the sheriff of the county; (B) the nearest state police post; or (C) the central dispatch center for the law enforcement division of the department; immediately and by the quickest means of communication. (2) Mail to the department a written report of the accident or collision within twenty-four (24) hours of the accident or collision. [Pre-1995 Recodification Citation: 14-1-1-43.]
