Sale of mercuric-oxide battery

Sec. 4. (a) This section does not apply to a button cell, mercuric-oxide battery.       (b) A person may not sell, offer for sale, or offer for promotional purposes a mercuric-oxide battery if the battery was manufactured after December 31, 1995, unless the person does all of the following: (1) Identifies a collection site that meets all government standards and at which a used mercuric-oxide battery may be recycled or properly disposed. (2) Informs each of the person's purchasers of mercuric-oxide batteries of the collection site identified in subdivision (1). (3) Informs each of the person's purchasers of mercuric-oxide batteries of a telephone number that the purchaser may call to get information about returning the mercuric-oxide battery for recycling or proper disposal.
