Sec. 136. "Patient" means the following: (1) For purposes of IC 12-24-1-4 , an individual who is admitted to a state institution for observation, diagnosis, or treatment. (2) For purposes of IC 12-24-7 , the meaning set forth in IC 12-24-7-1 . (3) For purposes of IC 12-24-6 , IC 12-24-13 , IC 12-24-14 , and IC 12-24-15 , an individual with a mental illness, an individual who appears to have a mental illness, or an individual with an intellectual disability who is: (A) in or under the supervision and control of a state institution; or (B) because of mental illness, under the supervision and control of a circuit, superior, or juvenile court. (4) For purposes of IC 12-24-17 , the meaning set forth in IC 12-24-17-2 . (5) For purposes of IC 12-27 , an individual receiving mental health services or developmental training. The term includes a client of a service provider.
