Sec. 120. (a) "Insurer", for purposes of the statutes listed in subsection (b), means an insurance company, a health maintenance organization (as defined in IC 27-13-1-19 ), a self-funded employee benefit plan, a pension fund, a retirement system, or a similar entity that: (1) does business in Indiana; and (2) is under an obligation to make payments for medical services as a result of injury, illness, or disease suffered by an individual. (b) This section applies to the following statutes: (1) IC 12-14-1 through IC 12-14-8 . (2) IC 12-15 , except IC 12-15-32 , IC 12-15-33 , and IC 12-15-34 . [Pre-1992 Revision Citation: 12-1-7-14.2.]
