Establishment of program; purposes

Sec. 2. The bureau shall establish a rehabilitation technology program for persons with physical disabilities. The purpose of the program is to do the following: (1) Provide rehabilitation technology services directly to persons with physical disabilities. (2) Provide training for providers of rehabilitation services to enable providers to program more effectively for persons with physical disabilities. (3) Provide training opportunities for individuals desiring to enter the rehabilitation technology field. (4) Develop a rehabilitation technology model. (5) Provide a resource for the business and industrial community to increase the productivity of the current or future labor force through rehabilitation technology techniques. (6) Meet the rehabilitation technology needs of persons with physical disabilities desiring prevocational and vocational training through coordination of services with state agencies that provide training and employment services. (7) Provide assistance to employers and developers in making all buildings accessible to persons with physical disabilities by modifying building designs.
