Memorial art commission

Sec. 18. (a) The governor may appoint a commission known as the memorial art commission.       (b) The commission must consist of not more than seven (7) qualified persons who serve without pay. However, members are to be paid necessary expenses as certified by the governor to the state comptroller.       (c) The commission shall consider the artistic qualities of a plan for a proposed memorial.       (d) A memorial consisting of a building, monument, statue, tablet, picture, arch, or work of art of any kind may not be erected without first: (1) submitting the plans to the memorial art commission; and (2) securing criticism and advice from the commission with respect to the memorial. If a state art commission is established by law, it is ex officio the memorial art commission. [Pre-2003 Recodification Citation: 10-7-5-18.]
