Political affiliation of employees

Sec. 5. The superintendent may not appoint or employ a person in an office or a place in the Indiana Veterans' Home because of the political views or affiliation of the appointee or employee or for a reason other than capacity and fitness for the duties to be performed by the appointee or employee. However, among applicants for appointment found capable and fit, preference shall be given to a military veteran who received a discharge from military service under conditions other than conditions set forth in IC 10-17-12-7.5 (2) and the spouse, widow, widower, mother, and child of a military veteran who received a discharge from military service under conditions other than conditions set forth in IC 10-17-12-7.5 (2).
