Retention of service weapon; badge; identification card

Sec. 1. (a) If an eligible employee retires after at least twenty-five (25) years of service, the employee may: (1) retain the employee's issued service weapon; and (2) receive a "Retired" badge in recognition of the employee's service to the department and the public.       (b) Upon an eligible employee's retirement, the department shall issue to the employee an identification card that: (1) gives the employee's name and rank; (2) signifies that the employee is retired; and (3) notes the employee's authority to retain the employee's service weapon.
