An attorney or law firm retained by the consumer in the legal claim shall not have a financial interest in the consumer legal funding company offering consumer legal funding to that consumer. Additionally, any attorney who has referred the consumer to the consumer's retained attorney shall not have a financial interest in the consumer legal funding company offering consumer legal funding to that consumer. A consumer legal funding that violates this Section is null and void and no person or entity shall have any right to collect, attempt to collect, receive, or retain any funded amount or charges related to the consumer legal funding.
