politic for the period for which they are organized, may sue and be sued, may have a common seal, which they may alter or renew at pleasure, may own, possess and enjoy so much real and personal estate as shall be necessary for the transaction of their business, and may sell and dispose of the same when, in the opinion of the shareholders, it is not required for the use of the association.
