for the purchase of any real estate necessary for the purpose of its incorporation, for right-of-way or any other lawful purpose connected with or necessary to the construction, maintenance and operation of any works within the scope of its incorporation, such corporation may acquire such real estate in the manner that may be now or hereafter provided for by any law of eminent domain.
