Purpose.

The Illinois Coordinate System Act is established for the purpose of compiling accessible, accurate, reliable, and repeatable data for use in the Illinois Coordinate System and the Illinois State Plane Coordinate System. Highly accurate geospatial data used by disciplines, including the engineering, surveying, construction, cartography, and geographic information professions, advances the development of public infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and other facets of the economy.
